The Sabrent USB 2.0 to DB9 Serial Adapter connects your USB port to the Serial RS-232 port. It is designed for connections to cellular phones, PDAs, digital cameras, modems, or ISDN terminal adapters through your USB port with up to 1-Mbps data transfer rate. Since the adapter uses no IRQs, it is perfect if you need many serial devices attached to your PC. It converts a standard 9-pin serial port to USB, and provides a 96 byte buffer for each upstream and downstream data transfer. This adapter employs full speed USB communication and is bus powered.

This adapter works great for XP or Vista. I'm using it to get into the lights out manager for Sun servers and console on Cisco devices without a problem.
Got this cause it was cheap. Works very well. Nice having the short cable so less cable on my desk. No reason to pay $20 at the local computer store, pick this one up and save some money.
I have three serial devices and only one serial port on my computer. So, I got two of these cables and with a little tinkering, all three are now successfully hooked up and running. Great deal. Each came with 3" driver discs which I don't know what to do with (and didn't use).
